Small Scale Dairy Farm Cooling

Milk Quality Control

Keeping your freshly gathered milk cold all night before you take it to the processor or collection point is vital to your farm's success. Cool milk means less bacteria growth and a higher quality product, that the processors and the people in your region desire. There are several new innovative technologies to accomplish on-the-farm cooling for farms in developing countries that have 5-25 cows. And the best part is the cooling happens by using natural resources already available to you.

Solar Cooling

When you milk twice a day, the morning milk can go to the collection point right away and still be viable, but the evening milk spoils as it sits warm overnight. Solar coolers use the energy gathered from the sun all day to create ice to keep up to 300 liters of milk cold all night. So the next day your milk is still in top quality for the collection center.

Milk Collection Centers

For regions that don't have a location to gather milk and keep it stored properly for the processor, Paul Mueller Company can work with local and national governments to build milk collection centers. These centers give farmers a place to bring their milk and store it in a large milk cooling tank until the processor is ready to pick it up. Solar coolers and collection centers are giving developing regions a chance to lay a foundation for higher quality milk products and better income for the farmers.
